Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 10, 2026·Last updated: July 10, 2026

The short version

  • Honk works without an account — no email, no password, no name required.
  • Your lessons, answers, streaks, and all other progress live on your device. We don't upload them to a server tied to your identity.
  • The app downloads its study content (questions and explanations) from our servers. That's content coming to you — we don't send your personal information out.
  • We use no advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no data brokers. We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can reset all of your progress from inside the app at any time.

This summary is for convenience only. The full policy below is what legally applies.

Honk is a DMV practice-test study app for iPhone ("Honk," the "App," "we," "us," or "our"). Honk is operated by OneClick Commerce LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App does and does not collect, and how it is handled. It is written to be plain and honest — because Honk is built to need almost nothing from you.

1.Who we are

The App is provided by OneClick Commerce LLC. If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, you can reach us at hey@thehonk.app.

2.No account required

Honk does not have user accounts. You do not create a login, and we never ask for your email address, phone number, or name to use the App. Because there is no account, there is no profile of you on our servers.

3.Information we collect

Honk is designed to collect as little as possible.

Information you enter

The only personal choice you make in setup is selecting your state or territory so the App can show you the right test content. That selection is stored on your device.

Information stored on your device

Your learning progress — which lessons and tests you've completed, your answers, XP, streaks, quests, and settings — is created and stored locally on your device. It is not tied to your identity.

Technical information

When the App downloads updated study content, our content servers (see below) receive standard technical request information such as your device's IP address, which is inherent to any internet connection. We use this only to deliver content and keep the service secure; we do not use it to build a profile of you.

4.Your progress stays on your device

Honk is offline-first. The questions, explanations, and images ship inside the App and are refreshed from our servers when we publish updates. Your progress is saved on your device and is not synced to a server that is tied to you. If you delete the App, your local progress is deleted with it.

5.How we use information

  • To run the App's core features — showing lessons, tracking your progress, and grading practice tests.
  • To deliver and update study content for the state or territory you selected.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose technical problems.
  • To process and validate your subscription (handled by Apple — see below).

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

6.Service providers

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate Honk. They only process information as needed to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase — hosts the read-only study-content service that the App downloads questions and explanations from.
  • Apple — distributes the App and processes subscriptions and payments through the App Store.

7.Subscriptions & purchases

Honk offers an optional auto-renewable subscription ("Honk Plus") sold through the Apple App Store. When you subscribe, Apple — not Honk — processes your payment. We never see or store your credit card or Apple ID credentials. The App only receives your subscription status (active or not) from Apple in order to unlock the App. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

8.How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioral purposes. Information is only handled by the service providers listed above, or where we are legally required to disclose it (for example, in response to a valid legal request), or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.

9.Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect our systems and the content service, including encryption in transit. Because your progress lives on your own device, its security is also tied to the security of your device (your passcode, Face ID, and iOS protections). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep the small amount of data we touch protected.

10.Retention & deleting your data

Your progress is retained on your device until you reset it or delete the App. You can reset all progress at any time from the App's settings. Deleting the App removes your local data. Because we don't keep an account or a copy of your progress, there is nothing on our side tied to you to delete.

11.Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Honk does not sell or share your personal information, and does not maintain an identifiable profile of you. If you have a request or question about your rights, contact us at hey@thehonk.app and we will respond as required by law.

12.Children's privacy

Honk is intended for people preparing to take a driver's knowledge test and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us.

13.Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the App or on this page.
